Weekly Recap: Tournament Seeding Starting To Materialize For Fall Sports

LA PLATA, Md. – The College of Southern Maryland athletics program is beginning to wind down its fall sports' regular seasons with their three squads breaking even at 3-3 (50%) for the week.

 

Volleyball:

  • Top Performers (Cecil & Carroll Matches Only)
    •  Deanna Kalkbrenner has transformed into one of the most well-rounded, valuable assets at Head Coach Allorie Sanders' disposal, blocking nine (1.50 p/s) attack attempts including five solo stops, while collecting 16 kills (2.67 p/s) and hitting 0.371.
    • Lelia Iafeta heads into her final home match as a Hawk swinging a hot hand, clubbing 21 kills (3.50 p/s) in the two games with stats last week in addition to 17 digs (2.83 p/s) on the defensive side plus a pair of service aces.
    • Mia Decarlo, the other Sophomore on the roster, has earned a new role of clutch service, racked up a team-high four aces and dug up 11 balls (1.83 p/s) as well.
    • Amelie Lancioni was the ultimate helper to her teammates, lofting an average of 8.50 assists per set (51 total) on top of 2.83 digs per set (17 total).

Men's Soccer: 

 

  • Results

  • Top Performers
    • Everton McKinney was one of the two scorers in Saturday's match with the Lakers, placing his one shot-on-goal past the keeper for his second of the season.
    • Matthew Knapp, one of the premier goal scorers in the region during his debut campaign in La Plata, was the other net-finder for the Gold and Black, placing both of his attempts on-target with the first of those giving CSM an early 1-0 lead less than five minutes into the match.
    • Sophomore Zion Abdullah earned himself a point in front of his entire family who made the trip on Sophomore Day, assisting on McKinney's strike for his first of the year.
    • Aydyn Meaders got the highest number of shots off (4) and tied with Knapp for the most SOG (2), but none of his boots were able to dent the scoreboard.

  • Top Performers
    • Sara Allwine saved one of her best performances for Sophomore Day, cashing in on her fourth hat trick of the campaign and eighth as a Hawk, landing a trio of goals on eight overall shots and five of those were aimed at the net.
    • Amber Jones was an absolute menace to Garrett's primary keeper, Ada White, bludgeoning her with 11 shots, six on-goal, and a pair of scores.
    • Goalie Kylie Smith pulled off a feat rarely seen in soccer, pitching a complete game shutout between the pipes while also firing off a laser beam penalty kick goal as she feasibly could have won the contest by her lonesome.
    • Elyssa Guy was the final student-athlete to make a mark on the CSM scoreboard, placing the fifth score of the afternoon onto the stat sheet.
    • Kiera Salazar registered her second multi-assist showing of 2025, feeding the ball to Jones on both of her missiles.
    • The last point producer for the women was fellow Sophomore Abby May, who setup the game-winner to Allwine only three minutes and change after the first whistle.
