LA PLATA, Md. – The College of Southern Maryland women's soccer program proved that their offensive firepower is legitimate, starting the first half off slowly before exploding for a half-dozen goals over the final 45 minutes to hand Mercer County its first loss of the season, 7-2.

Hawks' Top Performers:

 

  • Neither Kiera Salazar nor Sara Allwine saw their hot start ciio down after their two-day hiatus between matches as they each dropped two goals on the Vikings (both of Salazar's being in the second half) while booming half of the team's shots (10-of-20) and SOGs (5-of-10).

 

  • Kylie Smith picked up her second victory in the net with five saves compared to one goal over the first 65:24 while Raynna Ratchford spent the opening half in the field before putting on the gloves to finish the game, notching three saves to one goal herself.

 

  • Amber Jones was the third of four players to score for Coach Landis, making her one shot count on the scoreboard.

 

  • Abby May was the final goal producer, placing the game-winner past the outstretched gloves of the goalie in the 57th minute to all but wrap the dub up.

 

  • Faith Wright lent a helping foot on Allwine's first half equalizer, tallying the Hawks' lone assist.
