Weekly Recap: Men’s Hoops Snaps Losing Skid vs. TPLS Academy

LA PLATA, Md. – The College of Southern Maryland athletics program won its non-conference matchup but dropped both of its MD JUCO / Region 20 showdowns as it begins to wind down the 2025 portion of the athletic calendar.

 

Men's Basketball: 

 

  • Results
    • Tuesday, December 2
      • Win vs. TPLS Academy

  • Top Performers
    • In a surprise to nobody, defending Region 20 Player of the Month Shamir Taylor led the offense courtesy of 43 points (21.5 per game), 14 coming from the charity stripe, while fronting the defense in steals at three (1.5 per game) and as the role of floor general with five assists (2.5 per game).
    • Amir Dade was the big body down low, bringing down a team-most 19 rebounds and finishing behind only Taylor in scoring (29 / 14.5 per game).
    • Donnie Stafford was the third and final player to average double-figure points (11.0 / 22 total), doing his damage with efficiency by converting 53.8% (7-for-13) of his attempts and half (5-for-10) of his three balls.

  • Top Performers
    • Sanaa Morrow narrowly missed a double-double, leading the Hawks with ten rebounds (five offensive) and coming up one point shy at nine, stealing a trio of passes along the way during 16 highly efficient minutes.
    • Amoni Taylor was the top scorer at 15 points which included both of the squad's three-pointers, playing all 40 minutes while earning five boards as well.
    • Raylin Lee was nipping on Taylor's heels in the production department, posting 14 points via a 6-for-12 (50%) shooting day plus a half-dozen rebounds, a pair of steals and the singular block.
    • Cailyn Samuel topped the team regarding both steals (4) and assists (3) on top of six points / five boards.
