Weekly Recap: Women’s Soccer Advances To Region 20 Semifinals

LA PLATA, Md. – The College of Southern Maryland athletics program saw one team's season come to a close while the top seed and 22nd-ranked women's soccer squad kept their regional championship dreams alive while volleyball prepares for their Region 20 Tournament fate this coming weekend.

  • Top Performers
    • Brandon Rollins tied his season-high that he set in his Sophomore debut, racking up 11 saves over a full match with the goalie gloves.
    • Xavier Lalanne was the only player to land a shot-on-goal in the finale versus Harford.
    • The other three shot takers against the Fighting Owls were Shamar McKen, Aydyn Meaders, and Dominic Porovne.

  • Top Performers
    • The old adage of "they can't win if they can't score" perfectly sums up the importance of Kylie Smith to the Hawks as she shutout both Harford in the regular season finale and Garrett College in the Region 20 Quarterfinals, stopping all four shots that were ticketed for the back of the net.
    • Sara Allwine exploded for a quartet of goals to lead the Gold and Black in points (8), scores (4), plus SOG (8) whereas Amber Jones finished right behind her teammate at six points via a pair of goals and assists each.
    • Abby May took the most attempts at the opposing keepers among the Hawks student-athletes with a dozen shots, resulting in two goals and an assist whereas Elyssa Guy wrapped up the multi-goal scorers thanks to a pair.
    • Finally, Faith Wright, Abigail Noftsier, and Zoey Lisbon Browne all found their way into the scoresheet with goals, the first of the three listed tacked on a helper too.
