CSM Soars Past CCBC Catonsville 11-1

The College of Southern Maryland Hawks women's soccer team coasted to an 11-1 win over the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals on October 8 in Catonsville, Md.

Sophomore Karleigh Cohen registered a career-high four goals in the contest, pushing her team-leading season total to nine. With this offensive outburst, Cohen surpassed her 2018 season total of six goals.

Cohen recorded 13 shots, nine of them on goal. She also added an assist on freshman Briana Mendoza's first goal of the season in the 18th minute that put the Hawks ahead 2-1.

Freshman Jennifer Nanosi had her second two-goal performance of the year, scoring in the 40th and 70th minute. She now has six goals on the year, second-most for CSM.

Nanosi took a game-high 15 shots with 10 being on goal. She notched her team-leading fifth assist of the season on sophomore Adrianna Ward's goal in the 89th minute.

Both sophomore Cassidy Barnette and freshman Ashley Tyson scored their second goals of the season in the 32nd minute. They were part of a seven-goal barrage from the Hawks in the first half.

This was the second game this season in which CSM took more than 50 shots; the other came on September 20 against Cecil College. In both games, 37 of those shots were on goal.

CSM continues to show opposing teams how many attacking options they have. With Mendoza's goal and freshman Lila Biggar's tally in the 24th minute, all but two of the 14 field players that have played for CSM this year have scored a goal. Last year, only five of the 14 field players recorded goals.

With their record now at 4-6, CSM has eclipsed their win total from last season with two games remaining on this year's schedule.

CSM's next game will be on Saturday, October 19 against the Potomac State College of WVU Catamounts in Keyser, West Virginia.
