Five Softball Hawks Get Recognized On All-Region Teams
LA PLATA, Md. – The College of Southern Maryland softball program saw five members, more than half of the lineup card, earn the nod as All-Region 20 selections as Miranda Twigg (First Team), Brooke Colliflower (First Team), Cassie Wolfe (Second Team), Emily Dove (Second Team), and Carrie Hayden (Honorable Mention) were included on the list.
Twigg was the ultimate two-way warrior for Coach Sanderson, leading the pitching staff in every major category; wins (15), innings (158.1), ERA (2.83), strikeouts (124), complete games (19), and saves (2); in addition to slashing .423 (AVG) / .453 (OBP) / .557 (SLG) at the plate.
Colliflower, also a dynamic two-way superstar, was more hitting-focused as she topped the team in batting average (.459), on-base percentage (.517), slugging (.631), hits (56), RBIs, runs scored (40), walks (14), and doubles (13) alongside over 50 frames in the circle.
Wolfe provided the thump in the middle of the order, belting one-third of the club's 15 home runs (5) en route to 35 ribbies and a batting average just under .400 (.395).
Dove played the role of anchor behind the dish as the Black and Gold's primary catcher, catching 10.3% of would-be base stealers while sporting a perfect fielding percentage in addition to averaging over a base hit per game (1.12).
Hayden embodied the speed demon mentality on the base paths, accounting for over half of the Hawks' triples (5-of-9, 55.6%) and doubling up the second closest student-athlete in the stolen base department at 28 swipes.
