Bio
Billy Summers joins the College of Southern Maryland men’s soccer coaching staff as an assistant coach, bringing extensive experience in player development across the Southern Maryland soccer community at the club, high school, and pre-professional levels.
Summers currently serves as an assistant coach with AC Southern Maryland Men’s U23s, which competes in the CCL PRO23 League, one of the region’s premier summer leagues featuring current collegiate and aspiring professional players. Since joining the staff in 2023, Summers has assisted with player development, match preparation, and tactical implementation while helping provide a competitive pathway for local athletes pursuing collegiate opportunities.
Prior to his work with AC Southern Maryland, Summers was an Assistant Coach for the St. Mary’s Ryken Varsity Boys Soccer program from 2020–2023, helping guide the Knights through one of the most successful periods in program history. During his tenure, St. Mary’s Ryken advanced to the WCAC Semifinals in consecutive seasons, competing in one of the nation’s most competitive high school soccer conferences. Summers previously served as Head Coach of the St. Mary’s Ryken Junior Varsity Boys Soccer team from 2015–2017, playing an instrumental role in developing players for advancement into the varsity program.
At the club level, Summers spent seven years as a Head Coach with St. Mary’s Soccer (2014–2021), leading multiple teams within the 2005, 2006, and 2007 age groups. In this role, he emphasized long-term player development, technical growth, and preparation for high school and collegiate competition.
A former student-athlete at the College of Southern Maryland, Summers competed for the Hawks from 2012–2014, making his return to the program a full-circle moment as he now helps mentor and develop the next generation of CSM student-athletes.
Summers holds a U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) D License and maintains several additional coaching certifications and diplomas through United Soccer Coaches. His coaching philosophy emphasizes accountability, technical development, and creating a competitive environment that prepares student-athletes for success both on the field and in the classroom.
