The College of Southern Maryland men's basketball team beat the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals on January 14 by a score of 92-76.
Sophomore Amir Lawrence led CSM in scoring with 25 points off the bench. He shot 9-12 from the floor and 7-15 from the free-throw line. He also had five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Freshman Armon Williams added 22 points, going 10-14 from the floor.
Freshman Shawn Barclay had 12 points, eight rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block. Freshman Xavier Grant had a season-high 11 points with seven rebounds, a steal, and a block. Sophomore Lelan Eackles scored 10 points to go along with five steals, six rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
The Hawks used a strong second half to earn their second conference win of the season. After going into halftime down 43-41, CSM turned up the offensive intensity in the final 20 minutes, outscoring Catonsville 51-33. The Hawks went 20-35 from the floor in the second half compared to 13-28 in the first half.
CSM shot 52.4 percent from the floor on the night while making only one 3-point field goal.
CSM's record now stands at 9-7 overall and 2-2 in Maryland JUCO. Their next game is January 17 at Chesapeake College at 7 p.m.
