The College of Southern Maryland men's basketball team split their trip to the Montgomery College Tip-Off Classic on November 16 and 17, beating Mercyhurst North East 90-68 but falling to Cape Fear Community College 115-94.
Sophomore Lelan Eackles posted another double-double with 23 points and 18 rebounds on Saturday against Mercyhurst North East. He went 7-15 from the floor and 8-12 from the free-throw line.
Sophomore Warrick Godwin scored in double-digits again, leading the Hawks in points against Mercyhurst North East with 24. He went 6-16 from 3-point range.
Freshman Armon Williams provided 17 points off the bench for CSM, and freshman Desha Curtis led CSM in assists with 11 while adding eight points and six rebounds.
Sophomore Amir Lawrence was the leading scorer for CSM in their loss to Cape Fear, registering 24 points off of 9-14 shooting from the floor and going 6-7 from the free-throw line.
Williams and freshman Devin Thomas supplied 13 points each. Williams had three steals and Thomas had three assists.
All of Godwin's 12 points came from behind the 3-point line, where he went 4-8, and all of Curtis' 10 points came from the free-throw line, where he went 10-13.
CSM's record now stands at 2-5. They will face Thomas Nelson Community College on Friday, November 22 at 7 p.m. for their first home game of the season.
