Weekly Recap: Basketball’s Season Ends, Baseball Knocks Off (RV) Lackawanna In Extras
The College of Southern Maryland athletics program saw its winter sports season come to an unexpected end as men’s hoops fell in the Region 20 Quarterfinals while the Diamond Hawks split with Chesapeake before earning a thrilling 11-inning victory over (RV) Lackawanna on Sunday.

LA PLATA, Md. – The College of Southern Maryland athletics program saw its winter sports season come to an unexpected end as men's hoops fell in the Region 20 Quarterfinals while the Diamond Hawks split with Chesapeake before earning a thrilling 11-inning victory over (RV) Lackawanna on Sunday.

- Shamir Taylor ended his Hawks career with a bang, scoring exactly half of the team's points with 38 points on 14-of-28 (50%) shooting while tying for the game's most steals (3) and picking up seven boards.
- Kyle Jackson logged 13 points and a club-best eight rebounds (five offensively), going 5-for-8 (62.5%) and also swatting the only block for CSM.
- Amir Dade was the other student-athlete in double figures at 13 on top of seven rebounds whereas Donnie Stafford handed out the most assists for the home side with a trio.

- Ivan Gomez was the first walk-off hero of 2026, winning Sunday's slugfest with an RBI-double in the bottom of the 11th. For the week, he went 5-for-13 (.385) with three RBIs, three doubles, three walks, a run scored, and a steal.
- Tyrese Milliard logged the best batting average (.625 / 5-for-8) while Eunki Lee led the Hawks in hits at a half-dozen.
- Mason McReynolds was on-base constantly and when he reached, he scored, crossing the plate nine times following a combined four hits plus six walks in which he launched two dingers and drove in four ribbies.
- Speaking of home runs, Saturday was a special afternoon for Lenell Evans as he went yard twice in game one.
- Adam Amis was one of the most critical reasons CSM pulled off the upset Saturday, coming on for the final three innings in relief and not allowing a single baserunner, sitting down all nine Falcons he faced with four strikeouts to earn the victory on the bump.
