CSM vs CATONSVILLE
Hawks 3-Game Winning Streak comes to an End Against Catonsville
Posted by February 7, 2024
Entering the game riding a three-game winning streak and winning 4 of their last 5 games, the College of Southern Maryland Hawks women's basketball team looked to keep the momentum going against CCBC Catonsville.
CSM would have a tough time getting their offense going early as they only made two field goals in the first quarter trailing 5-10.
In the second quarter, offense would continue to be slow for both teams. As turnovers, and good perimeter defense forced both teams to take it inside the paint where defenders were waiting to make it hard to score inside. CSM cut the lead down to three and two points at multiple points in the quarter but would not take the lead. Trailing 17-21 at the half.
The second half Catonsville would take control with a third quarter that saw them outscore the Hawks 22-7. CSM's zone defense would struggle to keep up with CCBC's fast pace movement offense.
However, CSM would keep fighting as guard Angeleen Mulero and forward Toyin Allen scored a combined 17 points in the fourth quarter to cut down the twenty point plus deficit.
Ultimately, CSM would lose by a final score of 43-61.
CSM drops to 4-9 overall.
