Two Hawks Remain Perched Atop MD JUCO Leaderboard
Sophomore William Garrett took first place on April 11 at Cumberland Country Club by shooting a score of 75. Sophomore Tyler Potts placed third with a score of 79.
Garrett and Potts are now tied with each other atop the MD JUCO season points table with 48 points.
"William and Tyler both are good players," CSM golf head coach David Russell said. "William has the potential to shoot in the 60s with the potential to play golf at a very high level. Tyler is more methodical and a bit more consistent with his game. Both have impressive golf resumes. I expect both to make improvements to reach some of the goals that we have set."
Sophomore Mark Burgess shot an 82, tied for fifth at Cumberland, earning him 13.5 MD JUCO points. He is now seventh in the MD JUCO season points table with 31 total points.
"Mark has shown a lot of improvements and decreased his average by almost 10 shots in the last month," Russell said.
Freshman Jackson Bennett shot a 104, earning him two more MD JUCO season points. Freshman Jordan Lofton finished with a score of 108 to add one more point to his MD JUCO season points total.
"Jordan and Jackson both have a lot of upside potential, and if they continue to put in the effort and learn how to grind through a round of tournament golf they will also make significant progress by shooting lower scores.
"Hopefully everyone can lower their average round by a couple shots over the course of the next few weeks," Russell said.
