Shamir Taylor Wins Player of the Month for Second Time
LA PLATA, Md. – The College of Southern Maryland men's basketball program has a bonafide superstar in its midst as Shamir Taylor took home the honor of NJCAA Region 20's Division II Player of the Month for the second time in 2025-26.
Taylor, a sophomore guard from Waldorf, Maryland, averaged just under 30 points a night (28.2) while making more than half of his shots from the floor (52-of-96, 54.2%) and 41.9% (13-for-31) from downtown.
The Shenandoah University transfer and November 2025 award recipient posted double-doubles in wins over Beaver County and Allegheny County as he led the Hawks in both rebounding (9.0) as well as steals (3.4) whereas his three assists per game ranked second behind Amir Dade (5.0).
CSM, fresh off a 22-point shellacking of 20th-ranked Chesapeake College, will look to continue its late season surge towards the postseason when it travels to Cecil College at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
