Shamir Taylor Named Region 20 Player of the Month

LA PLATA, Md. – The College of Southern Maryland men's basketball program got off to its hottest start in a dozen years (2013-14) thanks in large part to Shamir Taylor who was recognized as November's NJCAA Region 20 Division II Player of the Month.

Taylor, a Sophomore guard from Waldorf, Maryland, averaged 28.4 points, 3.6 steals and 2.8 offensive rebounds per game to lead the Hawks in each category while putting together four double-doubles during that time in which CSM opened the campaign in a six-game winning streak.

The St. Charles High School product also topped the team in field goal percentage (49%), three-point percentage (43.4%) and free throw percentage (79.4%) was a walking bucket for Coach Hoyt, dropping 20+ points in seven of the eight games, poured in a pair of 30+ point contests, and sliced up Tidewater's defense for 42 points.

The Black and Gold return to the court Saturday afternoon in Bel Air to take on the Harford Fighting Owls at 3 p.m. inside APG Federal Credit Union Arena.
