Women's Volleyball End of Season Review

The College of Southern Maryland women's volleyball season ended on November 2 when they lost to Northern Virginia Community College 3-0 in the NJCAA Region XX Division II Tournament quarterfinals.

The Hawks finished the 2019 season with a 8-10 record overall, a welcomed improvement for head coach Jenica Leonard after going 5-14 the previous year. CSM had a 5-6 record in Maryland JUCO and a 6-8 record in Region XX this year.

CSM started off the season going 3-6 in the month of September. However, they ended the year strong, winning five of their last six games of the regular season.

The lone sophomore on this year's team, Katelyn Kluh led the team in solo blocks (26), total blocks (38), kills (78), hitting percentage (.219), and block assists (12). She ranked sixth among Region XX Division II players in solo blocks and ninth in total blocks.

Kluh was named a 2019-20 NJCAA Division II All-Region XX Honorable Mention and was named to the Region XX Division II Tournament All-Tournament Team.

Freshman Kelsey Hanks led the team and ranked 10th among Maryland JUCO players in assists with 202. She also ranked 26th in the conference in service aces with 29. Freshman Alyssa Gayon led the Hawks and ranked 21st in Maryland JUCO in digs with 128.

CSM finished seventh in the Maryland JUCO standings, eighth in the Region XX Division II standings, and 12th in Region XX overall.
