Hawks Fall to Raptors 7-1

The College of Southern Maryland Hawks women's soccer team lost to the Montgomery College Raptors on September 10 by a score of 7-1.

Sophomore Karleigh Cohen scored the lone goal for the Hawks in the sixth minute of action. When she found herself on a breakaway down the right side of the field with one defender on her, she took a shot just outside the 18-yard box that looped over the Montgomery goalie and into the back left corner of the net to put CSM up 1-0.

One of sophomore goalkeeper Camille Cooley's 11 saves came in the 17th minute that preserved the Hawks' 1-0 lead. After a Montgomery forward did well to create space and get a shot off in the box, Cooley reacted quickly to jump and block the scoring attempt away from the goal.

The Raptors eventually broke through in the 42rd minute to even the score at 1-1.

The Hawks could not muster up much offense in the second half though, only recording three more shots.

Montgomery added on six goals in the second half to hand CSM their second loss of the season.

The Hawks will look to secure their first victory of the season when they travel to face the Anne Arundel Community College Riverhawks on September 12.
