With all the adversity the CSM Women's soccer team has faced this season, they were able to display a hard fought effort in a 9-0 loss to Frederick CC on Friday, October 12th.
Frederick, who is currently 5th in the Region XX standings, was able to score early in the game when Lindsey Brant scored five and a half minutes into the first half off an assist from Madison Sorrell to take the lead 1-0. Two minutes later, Sorrell scored off a pass from Tristen Meyer to give Frederick a 2-0 lead. Sorrel would score two more times, completing a hat trick 27 minutes into the first half, and a goal from Hillary Koranteng increase Frederick's lead to 5-0 at halftime. The second half was much the same as Frederick scored four more goals to win 9-0.
The Hawks have had a few season ending injuries to players on their roster, which depleted their depth off the bench. Despite these circumstances, they played with hard fought effort and pride as competitive athletes representing CSM. Carly Hebb was able to save 10 of 19 shots on goal, and five of the seven shots CSM had in the game were on the net.
They look to finish out the season at home against Montgomery College on Thursday, October 18th against Montgomery College. Faceoff is set for 2pm.
