Kimberlynn Barnes is a long-time resident of Price Georges County, Maryland, having graduated from Largo High School where she played varsity basketball. Her award winning high school basketball career is where she found her love of the game.
She attended Bowie State University, where she studied Sports Administration and Management and played on the women’s basketball team. She lead the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) conference in steals during her entire basketball career at the university. While pursuing full-time career opportunities at the Washington Area Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), where she has been employed for more than 30 years.
Kimberlynn maintained her connection to the women’s basketball arena, as an exhibition tournament player and as head coach of several girls basketball teams at the high school level, Hayfield Secondary School ▪ Alexandria, Virginia; Mount Vernon High School ▪ Alexandria, Virginia; and Potomac High School • Oxon Hill, Maryland.
Since joining the College of Southern Maryland athletic program, as Assistant Basketball Coach, Girls Basketball, she has been an intricate part of building the women’s basketball program. Coach Barnes is team oriented and dedicated to helping every athlete reach their potential so that the College of Southern Maryland will be a national powerhouse in women's basketball.
