Shelton enters his first season as Head Coach of the Men’s Soccer team.
Born and raised in Southern Maryland, Shelton is familiar with soccer in the area. He played Varsity soccer at La Plata High School for four years. Shelton is familiar to CSM, as he was a former player for two years, earning captain in his second season as a Hawk. Shelton went on to play at Lake Erie College as a captain of their team for two years as well.
After his playing days, he loved the game so much that he decided to become a graduate assistant at Lake Erie in 2013. With his leadership, Lake Erie made the Great Midwest Conference playoffs for the first time in school history. The next two seasons after that, Shelton helped guide Lake Erie to the Great Midwest Conference Finals in consecutive seasons.
With a background as a personal trainer, Shelton believes that developing your body into top physical shape can only excel the process to becoming the best soccer player on the field; not only at CSM, but for his players that want to transfer to four-year schools. In addition to fitness, skill development, and discipline, Shelton has a formula to create success in CSM’s soccer program.
