Ernest B. Chambers Jr. joined the CSM men’s basketball team during the 2018-19 season.
Chambers has been an AAU basketball coach since 2008. He started with the Alexandria Kings 14U team, coaching players such as Luka Garza, who currently plays at the University of Iowa, and Jalen Gibbs, who attended North Point High School in Waldorf, Md., and now plays at Mount Saint Mary’s University. Chambers now coaches the 17U Havoc City team.
Chambers is from St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. He was a four-year letterman in basketball and track at Palmetto High School in Louisiana, where he graduated in 1982. He was an All-Defensive Conference player in basketball.
Chambers attended Louisiana Technical College but left to join the military. He played basketball while in the military, and was an All-Military Conference Basketball Player. He was also a boxing champion for the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE).
Chambers graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He obtained his Master’s degree from Oklahoma University in 2002 in International Relations and Public Administration, and received another degree in Graduate Studies in Cybersecurity Policy from Georgetown in 2008.
Chambers currently lives in Bowie, Md., with his wife Jennifer, who is a nursing graduate from CSM. They have four children, Sie, Miles, Jaden, and Carter, who all attended Archbishop Neale School in La Plata.
