Men's Basketball Drops Heartbreaker to Garrett College

The College of Southern Maryland Hawks men's basketball season came to an end on March 1 when they lost in the final seconds to the Garrett College Lakers 88-87.

Sophomore Lelan Eackles registered his second-highest scoring total of the season with 36 points. He made 14 of his 19 shots from the floor, while going 4-6 from behind the 3-point line and the free-throw line. He added nine rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block.

Freshman Desha Curtis chipped in 13 points, going 5-10 from the floor. He had a team-high five assists to go along with five rebounds. Sophomore Warrick Godwin scored 10 points, going 3-5 from the 3-point range.

Even though both teams finished with 32 made field goals and Garrett made only one more 3-pointer, the difference in this game came down to offensive rebounds. The Hawks could not keep the Lakers off their offensive glass, giving up 27 offensive rebounds to Garrett. CSM had eight offensive rebounds.

With this loss, the Hawks finish the 2019-20 season with a 12-17 overall record.
