Message from the President

The College of Southern Maryland’s athletics programs continue to grow and prosper. Because of increasing interest in lacrosse, we added a men's program in 2014 and a women's program in 2015.  We also added a men’s and women’s cross-country track team.

I am very proud of our athletic program and it's not just about the wins and titles, it's about how our student-athletes develop into well-rounded individuals through their sacrifices and dedication

to their sports, their teams and this college. I deeply appreciate their commitment and how they represent our college.

Thanks to their efforts, and those of our dedicated coaching staff, CSM has a reputation of achievement, collegiality and sportsmanship.  This past year was a special one because so many of our teams were successful.

All the action, however, does not happen on the field. A number of our students achieved NJCAA All American Team status for their academic records. Our commitment to excellence for our players extends into the classroom and beyond as demonstrated by our focus on completion, transfer and career opportunities.  A CSM alumna who earned All-American Honorable Mention in 2009 went on to earn a bachelor's degree in security management and now works for the Navy at Patuxent River Naval Air Station.  She is now our head coach of the volleyball team.

Thank you for supporting our athletic teams and the college.  See you at the games.  Go Hawks!

Sincerely,

Bradley M. Gottfried, Ph.D.

President
