Sixteen Student-Athletes Named to 2020-21 Maryland JUCO All-Academic Team

Sixteen student-athletes from the College of Southern Maryland were named to the 2020-21 Maryland JUCO Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, the conference announced on August 10.

 

The following is a list of the 16 CSM student-athletes named to the All-Academic Team:

Blake DiPietro* - Baseball, freshman (Littlestown, PA/Littlestown High School)

Kayla Kern* - Softball, freshman (Lusby, MD/St. Mary's Ryken High School)

Mackenzie Miller* - Women's soccer, freshman (La Plata, MD/La Plata High School)

Gabriella Cross - Softball, freshman (Bryantown, MD/North Point High School)

Austin Dalton - Baseball, freshman (Bel Alton, MD/McDonough High School)

Karsyn Dodson - Women's soccer, freshman (Waldorf, MD/North Point High School)

Trevor Drummond - Baseball, sophomore (La Plata, MD/McDonough High School)

Courtney Edelen - Women's soccer, sophomore (White Plains, MD/North Point High School)

Layne Freese - Baseball, freshman (Woodbridge, VA/Woodbridge High School)

Michael Guy - Baseball, freshman (Clements, MD/St. Mary's Ryken High School)

Ryan Huck - Baseball, freshman (Churchton, MD/Southern High School)

Justin Miller - Men's soccer, sophomore (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown High School)

Peyton Myers - Baseball, sophomore (Pomfret, MD/McDonough High School)

Liam Post - Baseball, freshman (Lorton, VA/South County High School)

Francis Segarra - Baseball, freshman (Bronxville, NY/Boca Raton Community High School)

Joseph Walsh - Men's soccer, sophomore (La Plata, MD/La Plata High School)

* = Achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA for the academic year

 

DiPietro, Kern, and Miller were three of the 38 student-athletes in the conference who achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA for the academic year.

CSM's baseball team tied with Garrett College's baseball team for having the most student-athletes from one team named to the All-Academic Team with nine.

CSM had the fifth-most student-athletes named to the All-Academic Team out of the 15 schools who appeared on the list. Twelve of these 16 student-athletes were recently named to NJCAA All-Academic Teams as well.

In total, 165 student-athletes throughout the conference were recognized for their work in the classroom. Maryland JUCO All-Academic Team honors are awarded to those student-athletes who have participated in at least one sport for one season while achieving an overall grade-point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. First-year students must have earned at least 18 credits, while second-year students must have earned at least 42 credits to be eligible for the award.
